We are delighted to share that in 2023, we again earned American Camp Association (ACA) Accreditation, a designation we have maintained since 1993.
As camp professionals, we understand that your biggest concern is for the safety of your child. We also know you have goals for your child’s development related to the powerful lessons the camp experience provides in community, character-building, skill development, and healthy living. We share those same goals, which is why we continue to participate in the accreditation process to ensure we are meeting, or exceeding, industry standards.
The ACA is the only recognized accrediting body for the camp experience in the United States, and Calvary Camp is among the 25% of camps that operate throughout the country accredited by the ACA. We believe that it is necessary to hold ourselves up to the peer-review process that accreditation requires so that Calvary Camp can continue to provide our staff, campers, and families with the best camp experience possible.
Earning and maintaining ACA accreditation takes time and commitment and we are proud to hold ourselves to such high ideals. By meeting the 266 standards for accreditation, which focus on health and safety, staff qualifications and training, and risk management, we hope to assure you that our current operation reflects the most up to date practices in the industry as outlined by the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross, and other youth-serving agencies.
Sheldon Calvary Camp was founded as a ministry of the Episcopal Church, and an outdoor recreation camp of the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh.
We are a dues paying member of Episcopal Camps and Conference Centers (ECCC), an organization that advocates for and promotes all camps, summer programs, retreat centers, and conference centers of the Episcopal Church in the United States.
